The bending process at Van Campen Bayards is computer-controlled. The company has more than one type of bending- and stretch machines and can bend many kinds of aluminum profiles, large or small. In addition to bending and milling of aluminum products, Van Campen can also bend acrylate in different ways. These are often thick-walled acrylic from > 10mm. Van Campen Bayards can bring great extruded or cast acrylic sheets in a radius of approx. 8000x2500mm or acrylic sheets provided with a local conversion to 6000mm long. Of course specific requirements such as cutting and forming semi- or finished goods can also be provided here.

The metal has only been available for little more than a century and in that time it has overtaken the world rapidly. It is economically a very important metal, and perfect for aluminum profiles. It is light (only one third of the weight of steel or bronze), and with 4% copper, 1% magnesium, 1% manganese and 0,5% silicon, equally strong, wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant. The material is ideal for automotive, aircraft production and of course, building construction.
Aluminum is therefore eminently suitable as a construction material for an aluminum profile, to be applied in any conceivable product or market segment. Apart from the above-mentioned advantages, the production of a profile is a unique process. It can be developed in any form and extruded (squeezed) into aluminum profiles. The flexible options for an aluminum profile can be used for screwed and snap connections, or utilized for water management etc.

A press (1) expresses a, usually pre-heated, rod base material (2) through an extrusion die with high pressure (3). The material therefore takes the form of the cross-section of the extrusion die. The extrusion profile (4) is then fed further through a traction device and cooled with air or water.
In the extrusion of aluminum profiles a stretching process, takes place directly after the extrusion. With the "stretch" the profile is extended just past the 0.2 yield strength and therefore becomes straight. After this, the profile can be cut to length and if the alloy permits, subjected to a heat treatment.
A method called conform extrusion also exists. As aluminum granulate causes friction when it passes through an opening which is becoming smaller, the material becomes so hot that it that it can be pressed through a die. This production method is favorable, in view of the fact that the material is not liquified and thus not creating any slink. However, this is a method that does not necessarily lend itself to aluminum profiles, but especially for the production of design products, such as iPhone or MacBook casings, or for example cables for high voltage pylons.
Aluminum rolling is one of the specialities of Van Campen Bayards B.V., just as the bending of profiles. The sheet-metal is rolled in one (round) radius or curved ovally. The sheet-metal may consist of solid aluminum plate, but also of modern materials consisting of composite panels.
With this panels are meant, which, as a sandwich construction, are composed of bonded parts. The panels consist of a thin skin of aluminum on the front and back with a core of a plastic that add mass. This type of panels are light in weight, very stiff and easy to roll. In addition, it is very durable and excellent to bring into any form.

Bending an aluminum tube is a specialty of Van Campen Industries B.V. The bending of an aluminum pipe, profile, sheet, strip and other materials is a technique whereby the material is forced to take on a certain radius with the help of various tools. Under the influence of a bending moment, the material will, on the one side, locally stretch and butt to the other side.
There are many ways developed which are each suitable for their specific application. Thus, one can bend aluminum tube through roller bending, press bending, swing bending, pull bending, stretch bending, sliding stone bending method and wiping.
The aluminum that has to be bent can be deformed in a hot as well as cold state. Most of the bending processes are performed at room temperature. By cold deformation the aluminum creates an increase in strength, also called cold hardening. Also, material which is made harder by means of a heat treatment can also be brought back in a soft state this way.
In soft state, the material has the lowest strength, and is then best to deform cold, also in the case of bending aluminum tubing. Van Campen also possesses the heat technique, whereby our furnace can treat materials to the dimensions 8X3X3 ml.
